Patiala MC House, F&CC to discuss key projects today

The Municipal Corporation will hold meetings of its General House and the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) tomorrow. The officials will discuss a number of projects to be initiated by the corporation.

At the General House meeting, the councillors will discuss conversion of land of Ghas Mandi, near the Qila Mubarak, into a parking space. The corporation has 3,724-sq yd land at the Ghas Mandi, part of which is being utilised for a tubewell while on another portion, residences of corporation employees and lessees are located. The corporation aims to shift the employees and lessees and utilise the land as a parking space for visitors to the Qila Mubarak.

The House will also discuss establishment of a parking space on Defence land on the Topkhana Road in the city which is lying vacant.

The councillor will also discuss acquiring more land for the dairy-shifting project at Ablowal village here. According to the MC, there are 257 dairies in the city, of which 207 have applied for shifting to the new site at Ablowal village. They said the MC required 50,156 square yard of land for shifting these dairies and it has acquired only 33,472 square yard till now. The MC will acquire 30,000 square yard adjacent to the village.

The House will also discuss increasing the spending capacity of the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 95 lakh. Besides, declaration of 530 feet stretch of Ranbir Marg, from the Bhupindra road to the Model Town police post, as commercial land will also be discussed, among other matters.

Officials said they would take up various development works at the committee meeting to be held after the House meeting.

Dairy-shifting plan to be considered too

The councillor will also discuss acquiring more land for the dairy-shifting project at Ablowal village here. According to the MC, there are 257 dairies in the city, of which 207 have applied for shifting to the new site at Ablowal village.
