Manipur had been cursed by bad governance for many years but all this changed in the last three and a half years, under PM Narendra Modi and CM N Biren Singh with the State seeing great progress and development.
Bharatiya Janata Party-led Government promised to provide inclusive development while reducing regional imbalance in Manipur since March 2017. One of the major projects which has been completed in this tenure
is Dolaithabi Barrage Project. The project was conceived in 1987 and completed in 2019 under the supervision of the Bharatiya Janata Party –led Government.
The present Government has sanctioned a maintenance fund for the completed projects in Manipur under Externally Aided Project through the Ministry of Jal Shakti, India. An integrated Water Supply Project’s foundation stone has been laid by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in July 2020. The project aims to reduce the water problems of the State which include about 1700 villages.
More than 10000 houses were built in the last three years under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Rural and Urban areas. About 2000 houses completed and about 20000 are in progress. More than 2000 kms of road have been constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. About 85 kms road has been sanctioned under the National Highways Project.
About 111 km railway line has been sanctioned between Jiribam –Tupul–Imphal, which will put Manipur on the Indian railway map. This will help the tourism industry to a large extent. Loktak Inland waterways improvement project has been approved by the Government.
The State Government revived Manipur State Transport after a gap of 15 years to provide connectivity to remote and interior locations of the State. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Integrated Check Post at Moreh, which will help in facilitating custom clearance, foreign currency exchange, immigration clearance etc.
About 1.53 lakhs Small and Marginal Farmers have been enrolled under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Manipur joined the 400 KV National Grid for the first time with the charging of the 400 KV Silchar –
Imphal D/C Line which will help about 1.42 lakh households. To make the State “Open Defecation Free” 34,242 units have been completed under Swachh Bharat Mission.
The State Government has taken special care to improve infrastructure in hill districts and constructed seven women markets, 19 transit accommodations for doctors and teachers are being constructed.
The State Government has taken up National Sports University in Manipur, which will be the first of its kind to promote sports education, sports science, sports technology, sports management, sports coaching, and will function as a National training centre.
Manipur Government launched “Go to village” and “Go to Hill” to deliver welfare schemes at the doorsteps of the citizens. To provide a finest healthcare facility Government launched a scheme to give Rs. 2 lakh per family for around 3 lakh families. Manipur has made considerable progress in combating drug trafficking over recent years.
The BJP-led Government is also committed to providing better basic services to people living in far flung remote areas of the State. Ever since the BJP-led Government came to power in Manipur, everyone is benefiting from various development programs initiated by PM Narendra Modi.
