A 26-year-old air hostess has filed an FIR against a 28-year-old man, accusing him of raping and sexually assaulting her at his residence.
The accused man's father also informed the police that he heard screams from his son's room. The accused's father is a college principal.
As per the statement recorded with Wakad police station, the air hostess said she first got acquainted with the accused on Tinder - a dating app, on December 25.
After chatting with the accused throughout the day, the duo planned to go out for lunch at a restaurant in Wakad. The victim in her statement said the accused forced her to have drinks with him. She has also alleged that the accused forced her to visit his house on his bike.
The accused is a graduate in B.SC.
She said she was in an inebriated state and could not resist him and accompanied him to his house on his bike.
The woman said she has been staying in Pune's Wakad area in paying-guest accommodation.
The woman has also alleged that the accused started getting physical with her at his place and when she resisted, he assaulted her with kicks and blows all over her body.
Later he forcefully underdressed her raped her, she alleged.
Vivek Muglikar, the investigating officer at Wakad police station, told India Today TV that the accused's father, who is college principal, informed the police that he heard screams from his son’s room.
When the police reached the spot, the woman informed her parents about the incident and her parents immediately rushed to Pune within three to four hours. The accused was then arrested on charges of IPC 376, 376B M, 325, 328 and 504.
A medical examination of the accused was carried out at Sassoon Govt Hospital and he has been remanded to police custody till January 2. The woman has been admitted to Sassoon Hospital and is under treatment.
Woman and Child Rights activist Yamini Adbey talking to India Today TV praised the police for taking immediate action without any delay. At the same time this activist pointed out some problems with dating apps, wherein there is no mechanism of verifying the authenticity of people registering on the app and thus the users tend to believe in the other partner in a short span of time.
Yamini also has a word of advice to people using such dating apps. She advised people using such apps to avoid going out with strangers until some confidence develops. She also advised against taking hasty decisions and arranging personal meetings too soon after chatting online.
