John F Reid dies at 64

Wellington, Dec 29 (UNI) John Fulton Reid, the former New Zealand batsman, passed away due to illness.
He was 64.
The New Zealand Cricket confirmed on Tuesday.
Reid is fondly remembered for his crucial hand of 108 and his stand of 224 with Martin Crowe versus Australia at the Gabba in 1985.
The left-handed batsman, who made his Test debut against Pakistan in 1979, played 19 Tests and 25 ODIs for his country, mostly batting at No 3.
He finished his Test career with a noteworthy average of 46.28, scoring six hundreds. He composed his highest Test score of 180 against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 1984.
Reid, had a distinguished first-class career, accumulating over 5600 runs. Incidentally, in his maiden first-class game against Northern Districts, Reid batted as low as number nine and kept wickets.
He served as the chief executive of Auckland Cricket, and then he was appointed the cricket operations manager and high performance manager of New Zealand Cricket. Reid also played a leading role in the establishment of the National High Performance Centre at Lincoln.
