Covid-19: Number of new infections falls to 20,000

279 deaths reported from across the country in the past 24 hours

The number of daily cases of Covid-19 fell to around 20,000, one of the lowest in the last six months, while 21,131 people have recovered during the last 24 hours. During the same period, 279 persons died of the infection across the country. 

India now has 2,77,301 active Covid-19 cases. While the number of confirmed cases has crossed 1.02 crore, 97.83 lakh people have already recovered from the infection in the country. The death toll from Covid-19 so far is 1,47,901. 

During the last 24 hours, a total of over 7.15 lakh Covid-19 tests were carried out, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research.I
