Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan's recently released remake of Govinda and Karishma Kapoor's 1995 comedy classic, Coolie No. 1, by the same name, has been bashed left, right and entre across all quarters with finding a good word on the film on social media being tougher than locating ice in a dessert. And it looks like the online junta is neither going to spare an inch in venting their ire on the movie, incidentally and surprisingly remade by Director David Dhawan himself, nor are they going to let go of a single opportunity to make their annoyance known to the makers, cast and crew, with the film's IMDB rating being the latest in its long list of woes since its digital release. Coolie No. 1 currently stands at a rating of a measly 1.4 on IMDB (Internet Movie Database), the uber-popular site for everything about cinema across the globe, which is even lower that Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol, Daisy Shah, Anil Kapoor and Saqib Saleem's Race 3, currently standing at an IMDB rating of 1.9. For the uninitiated, IMDB ratings are based solely on user votes, and that just goes to show how vehemently the Indian public took to the website in enormous numbers to give an extremely low rating to the Varun Dhawan-Sara Ali Khan starrer. Meanwhile, our critic, Urmimala Banerjee gave Coolie No. 1 a measely 1.5 out of 5 stars in her review and wrote: “Honestly, there is very little to like about the film. The original movie was one that managed to make us laugh very naturally. We saw some great chemistry between actors like late Kader Khan, Sadashiv Amrapurkar and of course, Shakti Kapoor. The new version is a snazzier one and that's about it. The old film was funny in a more organic manner. The remake suffers from terribly lazy writing. The rhyming lines irritate rather than making us chuckle or laugh. Paresh Rawal disappoints big time. You will miss Kader Khan.
