Agartala, Dec 28 (UNI) The opposition CPI-M in its state committee meeting yesterday has reviewed the law and order situation of Tripura and decided to take shelter of law to save their comrades from increasing incidences of violence and attacks by ruling BJP across the state.
The CPI-M state Secretary Goutam Das told media that all anti-social elements and criminals have taken shelter under BJP government. Several BJP MLAs and some state-level ruling party have been directly indulging into criminal activities, mafias and atrocities on the opposition supporters even in the heart of the city.
“Unfortunately, police are not taking lawful action against the miscreants who are continuously targeting the opposition leaders, workers and supporters in spite of registering specific cases. In the last one and half month, more than 10 such incidents took place in different parts of the state. But police played the rule as mute spectators. The ruling party miscreants had attacked a CPM state leader and former minister Pabitra Kar in front of police but neither they detained the attackers nor proceeded to arrest them,” Das alleged.
He further alleged that BJP cadres have now forbidden the visit of CPI-M leaders in affected areas after the party workers were attacked and added, “The criminals are restricting the movement of local CPM leaders and pressurizing the media persons for not publishing the news and photographs of such atrocities, which shows a complete lawlessness situation in Tripura under Biplab Kumar Deb government.”
In the hilly interior, movement of outlawed NLFT militants has been increasing every passing day. They have resorted to kidnapping, serving extortion notice to the businessmen and directly working for ruling formation in the state in upcoming autonomous district council elections. In urban areas, murder, assault, extortion and violence have increased by leaps and bounds in last three months with the direct involvement of BJP party, Das alleged.
He sought the attention of the Central government on law and order conditions and unrest prevails in Tripura.
Meanwhile, rubbished the allegations of CPI-M, BJP Spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee said that
after defeating in the assembly election in 2018, CPIM leaders have launched a malicious campaign of crisis to mislead the people and silently instigate the people against the government to create unrest.
“The government would take firm action against such evil designs to terrorise the situation,” he asserted.
