Shetkari Sanghatana workers scuffle with police in Sangli

Sangli, Dec 27 (UNI) Irate Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana activists from the district allegedly
scuffled with the city police over stopping of their "Kadaknath Sangharsh Yatra" to demand a detailed inquiry into alleged Kadaknath scam and to take stern action against those involved in it.
District SSS president Mahesh Kharade had earlier announced that they would took out a "Kadaknath Sangharsh Yatra" here from city's Station chowk to protest against Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis' visit to Islampur town to participate in 'Atmanirbhar Yatra' of the Rayat Kranti Sanghatana led by former state minister Sadabhau Khot today.
Accordingly, SSS workers, led by Mr Kharade, gathered at the Station chowk area this evening and staged a demonstration amidst sloganeering against those allegedly involved in the scam, including Mr Khot.
As they were about to start their protest rally, the police deployed on 'bandobast' duty stopped the Yatra in the chowk.
Angry over this, there was a scuffle between the SSS workers and the police who detained Kharade and 25 other workers.

Shetkari Sanghstana workers scuffle with police, Kharade arrested

Sangli, Dec 27 (UNI) Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghstana(SSS) district president Mahesh Kharade and 25 SSS workers, were arrested by the city police after a scuffle broke out between them and the police, when the police stopped their "Kadaknath Sangharsh Yatra" which they had taken out demanding a detail inquiry and stern action against those involved in the alleged Kadaknath scam.
