16-yr-old feared drowned in quarry

Thane, Dec 27 (UNI) A 16 year old girl from Dombivli is feared to have drowned in a water filled quarry on Sunday the police at the Manpada police station said.

The police said that a frantic search was on for the girl and the body is still not not traced.
The local firemen and the police have undertaken the search the police said.

According to the police a woman along with her two daughters had gone to the quarry for washing of clothes.

While washing her clothes the younger daughter who was playing around slipped into the water and in a bid to save her the mother jumped in. Upon seeing both of them drowning the victim also leaped into the water and saved both of them but was drowned in the water and met a watery grave.

The incident itself happened in Kole village of Dombivli, the police said.

The police gave the name of the woman as Gita, 30, and the younger daughter as Pari aged 04. The one who got drowned was identified as Lavanya, 16.
