IBM to return USD 24 mln to FCC to settle broadband subsidies probe

IBM has agreed to return USD 24.25 million to the FCC's Universal Service Fund. The move settles FCC investigations into the company over subsidies awards to connect schools and libraries to broadband in New York City and El Paso school districts. The FCC said IBM allegedly violated the commission's E-Rate programme rules for 2005-2008 in New York and 2001 in El Paso.
