Jasper man killed in Christmas ATV crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety has confirmed that a Jasper man involved in a Christmas ATV crash has died.

Sedric Spikes Jr., 40, was transported from Jasper Memorial Hospital to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston following the wreck, but died Dec. 27. from his injuries.

DPS reported that officers responded to the crash around 8:15 p.m. on Christmas Day after receiving a call about a single vehicle accident at Christ Street and Parker Street in Jasper County.

According to the crash report, Spikes was driving a new-model ATV at an “unsafe speed” on Chris Street when he attempted to make a right turn onto Parker Street and rolled the vehicle.

Spikes was the only occupant on the ATV at the time of the crash and was reportedly not be wearing a helmet.
