Music composer AR Rahman lost his mother Kareema Begum. She was unwell for quite some time and breathed her last in Chennai. AR Rahman took to Twitter and shared a picture of his mother to confirm the news. The picture was not accompanied by any text.

Condolences poured in as soon as the music maestro shared the photo. Director Mohan Raja wrote, "Our deepest condolences sir May her Soul Rest In Peace (sic)."

AR Rahman was quite close to his mother. In an old interview, he had said that his mother has musically inclined and that she is much higher than him in spiritually. In fact, his mother was the one who encouraged him to take up music.
On the work front, AR Rahman composed music for all the eight songs in Mukesh Chhabra's Dil Bechara. The composer gave a musical tribute to Sushant Singh Rajput before the film's release. Upcoming films that will have his music are Atrangi Re, Mimi, Cobra and 99 Songs.
