World awaits with 'bated breath to breathe safe"

New Delhi, Dec 28 (UNI) It's matter of only four days, and India will join nations across the globe in prayer to "whitewash" the pandemic on 'White Friday.'
Perhaps, it is for the first time after the Spanish Flu of 1918, when world's citizens will acknowledge and announce in unison on the dawn of New Year frustratedly, sorrowfully but boldly-"Old is not gold."
" It will also be a nice moment to discover that people are not defending 'timesickness' which at times comes in the way of human development," some sociologists maintained on Monday.
According to reports reaching here from home and abroad, preparations have already been undertaken for special prayer against Covid-19 in churches and other places across the world in the intervening night of 31st December, January 1,2021.
Interestingly, authorities and patronisers for the mass prayers have "promised" that Covid protocols and social distancing would be strictly followed during the gatherings.
Meanwhile, the newly found "UK strain" has given a new dimension to the deadly disease and the National Task Force (NTF) on Covid-19 has recommended that as part of "prospective surveillance," five per cent of positive cases be tested for 'whole genome sequencing' to check for the presence of the "new strain" that is seen to have a higher degree of infectiousness.
The recommendation from the NTF came amid the World Health Organisation (WHO) urging countries around the world to move swiftly to repair and reinforce their health systems in 2021.
"One of the clearest lessons the pandemic has taught is the consequences of neglecting our health systems," the WHO observed.
In all, 1,771,884 people have died of Covid-19 in the world as India accounted for 1,47,940 deaths.
India reported its first Covid-19 case on January 30 when an Indian student in Wuhan, originator of the pandemic in China, tested positive upon her return to Kerala.
