MP Govt reinstates Manikchandra Award

Bhopal, Dec 27 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan averred on Sunday that a national award for distinguished journalism – instituted in the name of renowned journalist Manikchandra Vajpayee aka ‘Mamaji’ but discontinued by the predecessor dispensation – will be recommenced.
“The honour in Mr Rajendra Mathur’s name will also continue. Mamaji – who created a distinct identity through a saga of struggle during the Emergency – earned respect even from a towering personage such as erstwhile premier Atal Bihari Vajpayee,” the senior politician was officially quoted as saying at the state capital’s imposing Minto Hall while addressing a postage stamp release ceremony by the Public Relations Department to mark Mr M Vajpayee’s birth centenary year.

The programme was presided over by erstwhile governor of Haryana and Tripura Kaptan Singh Solanki who reminisced that Mamaji toiled with dedication for the concept of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.

Mr Raghavendra Sharma’s book ‘Bharat ke Paramveer’ was also released.

Zari-zardozi to get boost in MP

Bhopal, Dec 27 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday reiterated his dispensation’s resolve vis-à-vis providing employment to artisans along with keeping the zari-zardozi art alive.
The veteran leader inaugurated Raag Bhopali 2020 at the state capital’s picturesque Gauhar Mahal, an official release said.

MP CM releases book

Bhopal, Dec 27 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday released, at his residence, ‘Element of Quantitative Genetics’ – a book by the Jabalpur-based Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University’s Prof Stuti Sharma, it was officially learnt.
In the author’s words, “The work endeavours to present a complex subject in a simple manner so as to assist pupils in BSc, MSc courses, PhD and other researchers plus candidates appearing for competitive examinations.”

COVID-19 torpedoes MP House’s winter session

Bhopal, Dec 27 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Assembly’s three-day winter session – scheduled to commence on Monday – was deferred owing to at least sixty officials and five legislators testing positive for the novel coronavirus during precautionary analysis.
The decision was taken late Sunday during an all-party meeting chaired by Pro Tem Speaker Rameshwar Sharma and attended by Chief Minster Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra and Leader of the Opposition Kamal Nath.
