Abohar, December 26

With the support for farmers growing manifolds with each passing day, there is no dearth of food and other essential items for the protesters at the Delhi borders. Now Abohar residents too want to play their role in extending the support.

Truckloads of kinnow fruit will be transported to the Delhi border where farmers have been camping for the past many days to get the agricultural laws repealed.

Fruit growers have decided to stack crates full of kinnow at the historic gurdwara in Haripura village that was visited by Guru Nanak with his two associates.

Forest range officer Balwinder Singh Jhurarkhera said the area of Abohar was famous for kinnow crop and on the call of Baba Harbans Singh of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in Delhi, a truck of kinnow was sent to the Singhu border by Baba Sucha Singh Dhillon of Gurdwara Haripura.

As the gesture won appreciation, farmers in the Abohar area will now stack hundreds of kinnow crates at the gurdwara on Monday and Tuesday and these will be uploaded on December 30. The distribution at the Delhi border has been planned on January 1. Kinnow carries high nutrient value which will be beneficial to farmers in braving the inclement weather.
