Kothagudem: Tragedy struck a group of friends from Hyderabad when one of them drowned in river Godavari at Bhadrachalam on Sunday.

Inspector of Police T Swamy said the four, all employees of private firms in Hyderabad, came to Bhadrachalam to visit Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple. Before going for darshan of the deity, they went to river Godavari for a holy dip. Even as the four were taking a dip, Vijay (27) drowned in the river while the others were rescued by the locals. Vijay belongs to Sircilla town, Swamy said.

Vijay’s body could not be traced till late in the evening despite the search efforts by the police. A case has been registered in connection with the incident and an investigation has been launched, he said.
