A statement from the hospital read, “Mr Rajinikanth was admitted to the hospital on December 25, 2020 with severe hypertension and exhaustion. He was kept under close medical supervision and treated by a team of doctors. His blood pressure has been stabilized and he is feeling much better. The statement further read, “In view of his post-transplant status, labile hypertension and age the following advice has been given in addition to the medications and diet: Complete bed rest for one week with regular monitoring of blood pressure along with minimal physical activity. The actor had earlier said he would announce details of his political party on December 31. The actor made the announcement a day after he met with senior office bearers of his forum, the Rajini Makkal Mandram. "District office bearers expressed their opinions. They have said they will agree to whatever decision I take. I will announce my decision as soon as possible," the actor had told reporters outside his home.
It can be recalled that Rajinikanth last went on social media in October to clarify on reports that he was in two minds about his political plans because of his health. The speculation was fuelled after a letter allegedly written by hi was leaked. It seemed to indicate that the veteran actor had been advised by doctors to restrict his movements since he has a kidney condition and could be even more vulnerable to COVID-19. The doctors reportedly advised him that a vaccine was the only solution and they were not sure if his body would even accept it.
