Gujarat ATS arrests close aide of Dawood Ibrahim from Jharkhand

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat ATS on Saturday held Abdul Majid Kutti, a wanted accused and a close aide of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim from Jharkhand.
ATS officials said that Kutti, hailing from Kerala, was involved in gathering 106 pistols, about 750 cartridges and about 4kg of RDX in 1996.
"While the other accused were arrested in the case then, Kutti was on the run since 24 years and hiding in Jharkhand. We got information about his whereabouts and sent a team to Jharkhand and arrested him," said a senior ATS official.
According to ATS, underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his syndicate had plans to disturb peace in Gujarat and Mumbai and hence had gathered such a large quantity of arms and RDX.
ATS officials said that his name came to light after the other accused where interrogated then and since that time he was absconding.
ATS officials said that Kutti will be sent for pre-arrest Covid-19 test and will be interrogated further.
