Telangana reports 472 new COVID-19 cases, two fatalities

Hyderabad, Dec 27 (UNI) Telangana added 472 fresh COVID-19 cases until 2000 hours on Saturday pushing the cumulative caseload to 2,78,599 in the state so far.

Two more patients died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours taking the total fatalities till date to 1,531 translating a case fatality rate of 0.53 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.4 per cent,according to a state health department bulletin on Sunday.

,As many as 509 people have recuperated from coronavirus statewide between Friday and Saturday taking the total recoveries in the state thus far to 2,76,753 constituting a recovery rate of 97.15 per cent while the national average was 95.8 per cent.

Presently,the state has 6,579 active cases including 4,426 individuals in home or institutional isolation,the bulletin said,

Of the 37,347 samples tested to detect the contagious virus in the last 24 hours,the results of 536 swab samples were awaited.

Cumulatively,67,23,710 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

As usual the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation recorded a maximum of 106 coronavirus cases as of Saturday followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (45),Rangareddy (44), Nalgonda (23), Mancherial (19),Warangal urban (18),Karimnagar (17),Khammam (16), Bhadradri Kothagudem (15), Nizamabad and Peddapalli ten each cases.

The remaining coronavirus cases of the day were reported by other districts,the bulletin added.
