AMBALA: The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Haryana (Charuni) state president Gurnam Singh Charuni on Sunday gave a call to his union workers to extend the protest at all the state toll plazas for an indefinite period of time until the government accepts the farmers’ demands.
In protest against the Centre’s three controversial agri-marketing laws, BKU Haryana, following the call of the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha, Delhi, had decided to sit on protest at all the toll plazas in the state from December 25 to 27 and the same has now been extended.
The workers of BKU Haryana have been sitting on the protest at toll plazas day and night starting from morning on December 25.
Gurnam Singh Charuni on Sunday morning released a video in which he said, “We visited several toll plazas today and there common people suggested that these tolls should be freed permanently. Following, we took suggestions from the people through social media and all suggested that the toll should be freed permanently. The decision of freeing the Haryana tolls has also been taken in our national executive committee meeting. The tolls will now be kept free for an indefinite period even after December 27 in Haryana until the government accepts our demands.”
“To manage and run the protests at toll plazas, all the district leaders of the union should form committees so that if any officials come to talk, the committee will talk to them. The workers should start the protest for an indefinite period," said Charuni.
BKU Haryana (Charuni) Ambala block-I leader Sukhvinder Singh from Jalbera village, who has been leading the protest at Devi Nagar toll plaza at NH-44 (GT Road) since December 25, said, “We have received the call from our president to extend the protest at toll plaza for indefinite period after December 27 and we are ready to do the same.”
