Saurabh Srivastava is now the new head of Amazon Fashion India, succeeding Arun Sirdeshmukh, who has put in his papers. Srivastava was the director, consumables and media. The appointment was confirmed by an Amazon spokesperson to a print daily. Puneet Gupta, category leader for men, women and kids apparels, is being moved to a different position in the firm.
Amazon is facing intense pressure to catch up with Myntra and Flipkart, both of which dominate the fashion and lifestyle sector in India. The Flipkart group reportedly holds about three-fifths market share for most of the prominent global and Indian fashion brands.
According to Bain & Co., fashion will lead in online customer acquisition in India in the coming year, charting similar trajectories in China and the United States.
