MADURAI: The city police on Saturday arrested seven, including a minor, for plotting a robbery.
A police team led by sub-inspector Sivaprakasam from the Subramaniyapuram police station arrested the accused.
They have been identified as M Hariharan, 21, S Ajay, 21, P Balakumaran, 21, M Ganesh Singh, 19, from Jaihindpuram, A Gurusuraj, 19, from Maninagram, T Rahul, 19, Vilangudi and a 16-year-old from Andalpuram.
According to a police source, the gang of seven gathered at the railway track in Venkatachalapuram on Friday to plan a series of robberies they wanted to carry out.
The police team, who were their usual patrol, reached the spot based on a tip off and arrested all seven.
Sharp weapons that they possessed were also seized.
A case was registered at Subramaniyapuram police station under sections of Arms Act.
They were produced before a judicial magistrate and remanded in prison.
