JAMMU: Two terrorists of “The Resistance Front” (TRF) outfit, a recent entrant into J&K’s terrorism spectrum, were arrested on Friday with arms and ammunition including an AK rifle, a pistol, two AK magazines, 60 AK rounds and 15 pistol rounds, J&K Police said on Saturday.
“Based on intelligence inputs about terrorists heading towards Srinagar from Narwal area with automatic weapons, a team of J&K Police’s special operations group set up a checkpoint at Narwal on Friday evening. Around 5.30pm, while the SOG troops were conducting vehicle checks, one car on noticing the security bandobast tried to escape from the spot. The SOG team immediately chased the vehicle and arrested two suspects in it,” a police spokesperson said.
The duo was identified as Raees Ahmad Dar of Churath in Qazigund and Subzar Ahmad Sheikh of Ashmuji in Kulgam. Police said Dar had a previous history of involvement in terror activities with four cases registered against him. “Initial investigation revealed Dar works for TRF while the role of his accomplice is being ascertained,” the spokesperson said.
An FIR was registered under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act at Bahu Fort police station in this regard.
