Indian Railways has incurred a loss of Rs 2400 crore due to the agitation of farmers against agricultural laws. Northern Railway General Manager Ashutosh Gangal said on Friday that a whole section of the railway between Beas and Amritsar has been closed for several days. For this, trains are being passed through swimming. This road is long and its capacity is also less, due to which only fewer trains are able to pass through this route.
According to Gangal, this has caused a loss of about Rs 2400 crore to the Railways. Gangal said that two trains have been canceled due to the agitation and three are being run halfway, while the routes of seven trains have been changed. The movement of goods trains has also been affected due to the movement.
He said that from 24 September to 24 November, train services in Punjab were closed due to the demonstration of farmers.
