Ludhiana, December 25

To mark their protest against three farm laws, farmers, activists and some residents sat on a dharna at the Reliance fuel stations on Dugri Road and near Jodhewal Basti today. The petrol pumps were shut amidst protest.

Today morning, an activist and city resident Gurpal Singh Grewal reached the Reliance fuel station on Dugri Road and appealed to people through Facebook to boycott the firm. Meanwhile, the police reached the site to control the situation.

Grewal said, “After I went live on the Facebook, many people reached the fuel station and sat on a dharna. The fuel station staff called the police. However, I appealed to people to support farmers and boycott Reliance. The new farm laws will benefit some big corporates. The people should boycott Ambani and Adani.”

The protesters were still on a dharna at the fuel station on Dugri Road in the evening. “We will continue our protest in the coming days too. We want the Modi government to hear the voice of Kisan Andolan and repeal the farm laws at the earliest,” Grewal added.
