Describing India as 'Asia's center of gravity', Japan has urged India to show more commitment towards the quad group with the presence of four major countries.

Japan's Deputy Defense Minister Yashuhide Nakayama also expressed concern with the challenges emerging from the provocative attitude of the Chinese military in the region's major maritime zone, in an interaction with an Indian news channel.

He said, to deal with these situations, it is very important to increase the mutual support of like-minded countries. Nakayama said Japan, India, America, and Australia recognize the importance of a democratic system and a free and open Indo-Pacific region. He hoped that the quad group of the four countries would emerge stronger in the future.

Nakayama said, "Personally, I understand the situation in India and personally urge them to show more commitment to the free and open Indo-Pacific region." We want a strong India. India is the center of gravity of Asia and is very important.

Nakayama said we love India dearly. On the provocative stand being shown by the Chinese Army with India on the Line of Actual Control (LAC), Nakayama said, "We would like to say that Japan would like to see tensions between the two countries receding in the region."

But he also said I know it is very difficult. Even in Japan, we are feeling threatened by the activities of the Chinese Army. In such a situation, personally, I can understand the Indian sentiment on this issue.

China and WHO to answer on coronavirus

In response to a question about the coronavirus, the Japanese Deputy Defense Minister said, "The Chinese government, as well as the World Health Organization (WHO), should clarify to the world what is happening to people around the world."

We want to know what happened at the real place that started the virus outbreak. According to my, the Chinese government should try to explain this to other countries.
