PUNE: Chikhali police on Thursday arrested an -18-year-old youth on the charges of damaging 13 vehicles in Gharkul area of Chikhali late on Wednesday night.
The youth also attempted to kill one person with a sharp weapon when the latter tried to prevent him from damaging vehicles. The youth had been arrested under section 307 (murder attempt) and the relevant sections of the Indian Arms Act. "He has been remanded to police custody for four days by the court," Raghunath Bhoye, sub-inspector of the Chikhali police told TOI.
Akash Gaikwad (29) of Gharkul, Chikhali has lodged an FIR with the police.
Bhoye said that on Wednesday around 10.45pm, the complainant heard some commotion in the building. When Gaikwad came down he noticed the suspect was damaging parked vehicles with a sharp weapon. "The suspect was shouting, 'I am the 'Don' of Gharkul and If anyone try to challenge me, I would kill him," Bhoye said.
Bhoye said when Gaikwad tried to , prevent the suspect from damaging the vehicles, the suspect all of a sudden attacked him. "Gaikwad however dodged it," Bhoye said.
Bhoye said that the suspect had 13 vehicles including six two-wheelers, three autorickshaw and four cars. "The suspect is the criminal on the police records. He has eight cases including robberies, thefts and body offences against him, when he was minor. Recently he was booked on the charges rioting," Bhoye said.
