The central government said on Thursday that 1.2 lakh students studying in around 3000 ITIs across the country can avail of the digitized e-learning module through the BharatSkills portal. The Directorate General of Training (DGT) has joined hands with Microsoft and the NASSCOM Foundation to make employment skills programs futuristic and provide digital content for ITI students.
DGT joins Microsoft and NASSCOM to create digital content
The DGT comes under the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, which has an extensive network of 15,000 Industrial Training Centers (ITIs) and 33 National Skill Training Institutes.
The DGT has the responsibility of providing long-term institutional training to the youth of the country through these institutions. DGT launched its online learning platform BharatSkills in October.
According to the ministry, DGT can play an important role in implementing vocational training schemes and turning the dream of 'Skill India' into reality. Skill Development Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey said, "Our goal is to impress thousands of students by incorporating digitization in education through the DGT-Microsoft partnership." We hope that it will reach more students and teachers soon.
