Despite the construction of toilets under a massive sanitation campaign in the country, they will be geotagged by scavengers forced to carry manual scavengers.
For this, the central government has prepared a mobile app. Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawarchand Gehlot launched the 'Swachhta Abhiyan' mobile app on Thursday. Through this app, the work of identifying and geotagging the dirty and dirty toilets will also be done.
The Union Minister appealed to all citizens to download this mobile app. Also said that through this app every citizen can provide the details of unhygienic toilets and scavengers on his head. This will help in the rehabilitation of manual scavengers and clean toilets instead of dirty toilets.
He said, according to the census 2011 report, there were over 26 lakh dirty toilets in the country. The presence of dirty toilets is the main reason for scavenging practice. He said, more than nine crore clean toilets have been built under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Since 2013-14, 66,000 scavengers have been identified for scavenging on their heads in 194 districts in the state survey and national survey. Out of these, a lump sum financial assistance of Rs 40 thousand has also been given to 57 thousand on providing bank account details.
Along with skill training, an allowance of three thousand rupees per month is also being provided to them and their families. Apart from this, they are also being given a subsidy of up to Rs 3.25 lakh on the loan to start their work.
