PATNA: Police on Friday arrested two persons from different location for their alleged involvement in shooting a Food Corporation of India (FCI) employee while he was sleeping inside his cattle shed at village Ramnagar under Ghoswari police station area of Mokama in Patna on late Thursday night.
Ghoswari police station SHO Sanjeev Mauaar said that arrested persons were Kundan Kumar (19) and Ranjeet Sao (28).
He said injured person is Saryu Mahto who is aged around 58 year who worked at FCI in Mokama.
“He received gunshot injury in left arm. He was rushed to a private hospital in Begusarai where doctor operated and extracted the pellet. Attackers fired from a hole in window of shed. An empty cartridge was recovered from spot,” SHO said.
He said Kundan was arrested from Ramnagar while Ranjeet was arrested from his village Markabad village under Pandarak police station area.
Kumar said Mahto had lodged FIR against Kundan, his father Jhako Sao (58) and Ranjeet for attacking him.
SHO said that the incident is related to kidnapping of Mahto’s eight year old grandson for Rs 10 lakh ransom which took place almost a year back.
Mauaar said family of one of the prime accused in kidnapping case named Ramniwas Sao (25) was pressuring Mahto compromise in the case so that he can come out of jail.
SHO said that Kundan who got arrested on Friday is younger brother of Ramniwas and Ranjeet is also their relative.
“The child was recovered safely from Manhatta village in Lakhisarai,” he said.
Mauaar said Involvement of six persons including Mahto’s neighbour Ramniwas had surfaced in the case who along with three others are still behind bars while another of the accused in hiding in Ghaziabad and another is traceless. He said further investigation was going on in the case.
