THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the government giving the green signal to reopen colleges in the state, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University here has decided to reopen its colleges on
January 4.
Classes will be held in shifts, including on Saturdays, from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm. Attendance in classes must be at 50 percent and on a rotational basis. In line with the guidelines issued by the UGC and other regulatory bodies, the Technological University has come out with a detailed procedure to be followed by colleges upon reopening.
On January, 4, contact classes for third semester M Tech, MArch and M Plan, fifth semester MCA, ninth semester Integrated MCA, ninth semester B Arch and seventh semester B Tech will begin. The classes for these courses will be held till January 16 while the fifth semester B Tech, BHMCT, B Arch, fifth and seventh semester Integrated MCA and seventh semester B Arch contact classes will begin on January 18 and will continue until February 6.
The contact classes for the third semester MCA/ Integrated MCA, third semester B Tech, BHMCT, B Des, B Arch and third semester B Tech lateral entry students will be held from February 1to 20.
First-semester graduation students will have contact classes from March 1 to 13. Classes for first-semester postgraduate students will commence on February 22 and end on March 6. Once the contact classes are over, end-semester exams will be conducted during February-March.
Students and teachers from containment zones are not required to attend the classes. However, colleges should provide e-resources and study materials for students who want to pursue online classes. This facility should also be extended to students who are unable to attend colleges due to international travel restrictions and visa problems.
The circular also states that colleges should restrict study tours, field works and all such programmes, where physical distancing is not feasible.
