Dahal-Nepal faction to hold countrywide agitation; approach SC, EC

Kathmandu, Dec 24(UNI) The Dahal-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on Thursday decided to organise nationwide agitation on December 29 against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's decision to recommend the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
Oli's recommendation was approved by Nepal's President Bidya Devi Bhandari on the same day, that is December 20.
The decision to conduct protests on December 29 was taken today at the faction's Central Committee meeting.
The Dahal-Nepal faction has vehemently opposed the dissolution of the HoR, calling it undemocratic and un-Constitutional
The House of Representatives is the Lower House of Nepal's Federal Parliament.
The faction also announced Pushpa Kamal Dahal as the parliamentary party leader of Wednesday, while Mr Oli was removed from the post of party chairperson on Tuesday.
A report by Himalayan Times stated that NCP lawmakers loyal to the Dahal-Nepal faction would approach the Supreme Court on Friday. On the same day, the daily said, they would also approach the Election Commission.
