DGGI Ludhiana busts Rs. 100 crore fake invoices nexus, 1 arrested

LUDHIANA: Continuing its drive against tax frauds involving fake invoices, directorate general of GST Intelligence (DGGI), has conducted a big operation under which raids are being conducted at more than 12 business and residential premises in Mandi Gobindgarh near Ludhiana.
According to sources, in this operation so far the bogus billing over Rs. 100 crores has been detected in this operation and one person arrested so far. Sources also claimed that several prominent firms into furnace industry are also under radar of DGGI.
Divulging more details, the source said , “Various teams of department have searched as many as 12 business and residential premises in Mandi Gobindgarh area on December 23rd and 24th. A big chain of fake invoice issuers have been unearthed. Value of fake invoices detected is more than Rs. 100 crore in which GST of approx. Rs. 20 crores has been passed on. It is also gathered that the amount may increase more with more links detected in coming days. One person named Varinder Singh of Guru Nanak Colony, Mandi Gobindgarh has been arrested by DGGI and he has been sent into judicial remand for fourteen days after he was produced in court”
