PATNA: Anxious students of classes X and XII, who are to appear in the board exams next year, heaved a sigh of relief after Union minister for education Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said on Tuesday no board examinations would be conducted in February 2021. The schools in state are to reopen on January 4.
Ambika Kumari of Notre Dame Academy wants the board exams by March-end as she needs time for revision. “The school would complete the syllabus on time, but we need time for self-study to understand each topic. We are not only preparing for board but also for the JEE competitive exams. So, the concept in physics, chemistry and maths should be clear,” she said.
Saurav Kumar of Loyola High School, who is also preparing for the JEE exam, had similar views. He said the online classes were not very effective and he was waiting for the reopening of school. “In physical classes, we are able to understand the topics clearly and get enough chances to clear the doubts. But that is not possible in online classes,” he said.
Gaurav Aggarwal, a class XII student of DAV Public School, said he got adequate time for self-study but there were several topics that he could not understand and needed his teacher’s guidance. “Once the school reopens, I will be able to make up the losses. Besides, we will be able to get adequate time for revision,” he said.
“I am happy that the Centre has cleared the doubts about the exams because many portals were saying the exams will be held in January-end or February. I wish the exams are held in April next, so that we get ample time to prepare ourselves for the exam,” said Suraj Kumar, a student of St Karen’s Secondary School.
Monicca Singh, a class X student of Bishop Scott Girl’s School, said clarity about the exams had eased her mind.
