Ind vs Aus 2nd Test – Boxing Day : India will be blown away in the 2nd Test Match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Assessing India’s chances at the MCG, Warne said the tourists “will be a bit shocked by what happened in Adelaide” and predicted an very easy Australia win.
In an exclusive interview to Fox Sports – Warne said, “I think Australia is probably going to blow them away,” Australia’s Test wicket record holder said.
“Shami is a huge loss for India. He’s such a quality bowler. And if you look at bowlers for the Melbourne conditions – drop in pitches – Shami hits the seam and stands it up and bowls a good length and straight.”
According to Warne – if KL Rahul and young Shubman Gill is drafted in the Indian playing XI, India may stand a chance to fight it out in the 2nd Test match against Aussies.
“Having said that, they have some class players to come in like KL Rahul. Young Gill will come in, these guys need to be in XI. Rahane is a class act. We know what Pujara can do”.
Shane Warne suggests – 3rd Test should be shifted to Geelong or Canberra
Amid Covid-19 situation in Sydney, questions are being raised on whether 3rd test will move out of Sydney. Cricket Australia is likely to make final decisions on the 3rd test in the next 24 hours.
Warne has put forward a solution to solve Cricket Australia’s latest Covid-19 headache.
According to Warne, 3rd test should be shifted from Sydney to Geelong’s GMBHA stadium. The stadium has hosted one men’s international T20 but no one-dayers or Tests. But Warne believes Geelong’s GMHBA Stadium is fit to host an international five-day match.
“Maybe it could be somewhere like Geelong?” Warne told Fox Cricket.
“Maybe they could do it in Geelong if they wanted to play two in (greater) Melbourne rather than two at the MCG?”
Though Warne agreed the most likely scenario is to swap the locations of the third and fourth Tests, playing the former in Brisbane and latter in Sydney, to buy authorities more time.
Under this scenario, players would travel to Queensland, not NSW, after the completion of the MCG Test.
Warne also pushed for Canberra’s Manuka Oval, which hosted a Test between Australia and Sri Lanka in February last year.
“If not (Geelong), Canberra is a pretty good alternative too,” Warne said.
