12 new COVID-19 cases, 28 recoveries in Meghalaya

Shillong, Dec 24 (UNI)Twelve new COVID 19 cases were reported in Meghalaya on Thursday while 28 recoveries from the viral infection were also registered.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said that the 12 new cases, including three Armed Force/Paramilitary Force, were detected in East Khasi Hills district.
East Khasi Hills, including Shillong, is the most affected district in the State with 204 active cases and 109 deaths due to the viral disease, followed by Ri-Bhoi district with 29 active cases and 21 active cases in West Garo Hills district.
Of the 28 new recoveries, the senior medical official said 12 patients, including three Armed Force/Paramilitary Force, have recovered in East Khasi Hills district, nine in West Garo Hills district, two in East Jaintia Hills district and one each in East Garo Hills district, North Garo Hills district, Ri-Bhoi district, South Garo Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district.
Dr War informed that the number of active cases in the State stands at 283 while a total of 12, 922 people have recovered from the virus so far. The death toll in the State stands at 135.
Till date, 2,85,139 samples have been tested for COVID 19 and 2,71,799 have tested negative. There are 18 containment zones across the State and the number of fatality rate stands at 1.01 per cent.
So far, Meghalaya has registered 13340 COVID-19 cases, including 135 fatalities, 283 active cases and 12922 recoveries.
