Prime Minister Narendra Modi took part in the Centenary Program of Vishwa Bharati University on Thursday. During this, he addressed the event through video conferencing, PM Narendra Modi said, 'Gyanandini Devi, the wife of Satyendranath Tagore, the first ICS officer of the country, taught women how to tie the sari's pallu on the left shoulder.


Prime Minister Modi said, 'Gurudev Rabindranath's elder brother Satyendra Nath was appointed as ICS officer in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Satyendranath's wife Gyanandini ji used to live in Ahmedabad, local women put pallu on right shoulder, the women working there were having a problem to do so, Gyanandini Devi took the idea - why not take Pallu on the left shoulder.

PM Narendra Modi said, Now I do not know exactly but it is said - the sari's pallu on the left shoulder is due to her, the organizations associated with Women's Empowerment should study this.
