Expressing dissatisfaction over the manner the prosecution has been handling the case selectively, depending on whether the former minister is in the AIADMK or DMK, Justice N Satish Kumar wondered as to how the prosecution, which has claimed to have unearthed adequate materials to arrest the MD, has not bothered to move an application seeking to cancel the bail given to the former minister, who is the first accused in the case.

Also, pointing out that it’s at a loss to understand as to how those appointed illegally are continuing in their job, the court granted bail to the MTC MD on accounting for his incarceration for the past 42 days and that the first accused has already been granted anticipatory bail.

As per the case, Senthil Balaji and his associates took bribes to the tune of Rs 2.31 crore while appointing 2,209 persons while the recruitment was confined to 1,670 posts.

A special team of the CCB’s Job Racket Wing arrested Ganesan, who was handling the Personnel Department at the time of the alleged scam. Opposing his bail, the prosecution submitted that 17 searches were held in Ganesan’s office and premises and incriminating documents including the list forwarded by the minister for the illegal appointment.
