First-ever statue of Bhagwan Veersa Munda inaugurated in Palghar

Thane / Palghar, Dec 24 (UNI) The first-ever statue of tribal freedom fighter, Bhagwan Veersa Munda, was on Thursday inaugurated at the campus of the Vidyak Sansad and Shramajivi Sanghatana in Usgaon town of the district.
Shramajivi Sanghatana president Rambhau Varna and a prominent social worker and leader of Seva Dal, D Manerikar, inaugurated the 7.25 feet statue in the campus in a brief function. Also present were the founders of the Sanghatana Vivek Pandit and Viddyulata Pandit.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Pandit declared that this was the first memorial for the great tribal freedom fighter in Maharashtra.
A memorial for Nagya Katkari of Raigad, another freedom fighter, would also be installed in the premises soon, he added.
