Sensitisation programme held

Moreh, December 23 2020: Assam Rifles in collaboration with Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB), Government of India and Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) India, organized a sensitisation programme on "Prevention of Wildlife Crime" in Moreh, yesterday.

Apart from AR troops, the programme was also attended by officials of Custom Preventive Force and members of Moreh based youth clubs.

The aim of the sensitization programme was to train the officials on prevention of wildlife crimes, identification of commonly traded species and wildlife articles and the role of enforcement agencies.

Hiten Bohra, Int Assistant, WCCB, Government of India and Anirban Chaudhury, Regional Manager East, WCS India highlighted in detail the transit routes and the modus operandi adopted by the wildlife traffickers through the porous Indo Myanmar border.

Officials from various agencies such as Manipur Police, Customs Department, Forest Department, legal services, FXB Suraksha, Commission for Protection of Child Rights were invited to impart training to the participants.
