The Pune Devils team owned by Alpha Sports announced their 14-player sqaud for the upcoming season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
At the players' draft, the Devils picked some key international players in wicket-keeper batsman Sam Billings, former Sri Lankan spinner Ajantha Mendis and batsman Chamara Kapugedera and South African fast-bowler Hardus Viljoen.
Alongside these, the franchise also signed on some exciting uncapped local and emeging players for the 2021 season.
Last week, the Pune-based side signed the Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera, who has been in smashing form and won the title for his side Jaffna Stallions in the inaugural Lanka Premier League (LPL). The side also retained the Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir and signed Jonty Rhodes as the head coach.
Local player Vritiya Aravind was awarded his outstanding performances in the UAE's domestic leagues with a contract by the Pune side.
Speaking on the 14 players the franchise has put together, Mr Krishan Kumar Chaudhary, Co-owner of Pune Devils, says, “We are happy with the squad that we have selected and we know all our 14 players are talented and will give their best to win the tournament. We have selected the players basis our requirement and have filled all the position that we were looking out to fill. The franchise has big hopes on head coach Jonty Rhodes and is sure he will bring best from each individual.”
The league will take place at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket stadium in Abu Dhabi from January 28 to February 6, 2021.
