Terminated Tripura teachers along with family members on street for 17 days

Agartala, Dec 24 (UNI) The ongoing agitation of 10,323 terminated teachers reached a new point after 17 days when the elderly people and the children of their families joined the demonstration urging Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to act as per his commitment.
A large number of small children and aged parents of the terminated teachers are spending bone-chilling nights on the street along with the demonstrators for the past three days.
Yesterday, the teachers demonstrated covering their faces with black cloths.
Last evening, leader of the opposition and CPI (M) politburo member Manik Sarkar along with four party legislators met Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and once again demanded the revival of 13,000 non-teaching posts, which the left front government had created, to resolve the problem of the agitating teachers.
Later, Sarkar told the reporters that it was unfortunate that no one from the government had turned up to speak to the agitating teachers who had been sitting on a dharna for over two weeks.
"A little over two months ago, they were assured by the Chief Minister of a solution. But so far no significant attempt has been made by the government to allay their fears," Sarkar stated.
"Our government had created 13,000 posts in accordance with the new education policy but there has been no recruitment in these posts in the last three years. So, it is possible to revive these posts if the government really wants to resolve their problem,” he added.
