Symposium on Combating COVID-19 - Ethnopharmacology and Traditional Food

Panel discussion on food as medicine marked the 2nd day of international symposium
The second of the 3-day International Symposium on combating COVID-19 ethnopharmacology and Traditional Food & Medicine and 7th convention of Society for Ethnopharmacology, India was marked by panel discussion on "Food as medicine — exploring therapeutic potential".
The 3-day event was organised by IBSD, Imphal in association with Society for Ethnopharmacology and International Society for Ethnopharmacology. The virtual event was inaugurated by Dr. Rajkumar Ranjian, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha yesterday.
On the second day of the symposium, Prof. Pulok Kumar Mukherjee, Director of IBSD, Imphal welcomed the participants with a note on "food as medicine: exploring therapeutic potential".

Dr. Arun Bandyopadhyay, Director, Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata,
Prof. Sitech C. Bachar, University of Dhaka,
Dr. Pallab K. Haldar, Jadavpur University, Kolkata and
Dr. Sayeed Ahmad, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi.
During the 6th session of the ongoing event, Ethnopharmacology Conclave on "Traditional healers — Source of therapeuticals from nature" was held where healthcare practitioners from different parts of the country including Manipur and scientists delivered their lectures.
A plenary session with four speakers delivered their lectures on Corona related topics. The second day programme ended with an Student Interactive Forum where 2 students from India and one each from United States of America and South Africa delivered lectures.
It may be mentioned that a total of 56 speakers from 18 countries including India are attending the ongoing event with 516 delegates from different parts of the country and abroad.
