The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Tuesday urged CM Capt Amarinder Singh to immediately formulate and implement a policy regarding financial assistance, employment and debt waiver for the ‘martyrs’ of the ongoing farmers’ movement.

AAP leader and Sunam MLA Aman Arora said the state government could change laws to give jobs to farmers’ loved ones, but it was not formulating a policy for the “martyrs” of the movement, fighting to save the Punjab farmers and agriculture.

Arora said a large number of farmers were getting sick and dying because of the cold at Delhi borders. Many have died in road accidents while commuting to and fro from Punjab. “It is the duty of the government to help the families of the such farmers,” he added. — TNS
