Sub fire officer Aatish Rai at the Local Adda fire station is a messiah for many persons struggling for their lives due to road accidents or any illness, as he always remains ready to donate blood whenever required.
Appointed at the Sundar Nagar fire station, Rai has been working in the Fire Brigade since 2006.
I was 17-year-old when I first donated blood and felt rejuvenated after the donation. Since then, I could not stop myself and now I am 38 and still in the noble cause. I feel donating blood gives that level of happiness which cannot be attained from any other thing. I daily receive 10 to 15 calls for blood requirement and I never said no to anyone. I try my best to arrange blood for those in need.
Aatish, who is AB+, has donated blood 125 times. He last donated blood this Sunday to an accident victim who required blood in emergency. After coming to know about the requirement, he took leave from his duty and immediately went to the hospital to donate blood.
“I was 17-year-old when I first donated blood and felt rejuvenated after the donation. Since then, I could not stop myself and now I am 38 and still in the noble cause,” said Aatish.
The Fire official said he usually donated five to six units of blood in a year. He also donated blood cells for patients.
“I feel donating blood gives that level of happiness which cannot be attained from any other thing,” said Aatish.
He said he was attached with two social groups donating bloods, namely, Youth Blood Donors and Welfare Society and Blood Sewa Family. These groups, which have men, women and young boys and girls, have donated blood to hundreds of needy patients.
He said he daily received 10 to 15 calls for blood requirement and he never said no to anyone and tried his best to arrange blood for the needy. He urged people to donate blood as it would not bring any weakness in their bodies, rather they would feel energised after donating blood and also get blessings for free.
He said his family fully supported him for this cause and endeavour.
