MYSURU: Student attendance for regular classes at the University of Mysore (UoM) and government first grade colleges in Mysuru region is picking up gradually.
At UoM, compared to their humanities and commerce stream counterparts, more science students are turning up for the offline classes at the Manasagangotri campus.
“Attendance to offline classes in science departments is around 80% now,” said UoM registrar R Shivappa. However he explained that the humanities and commerce students are still not turning up in more numbers for the regular classes in the campus.
“A few students seem not serious about attending regular classes. Currently, around 40% of the students attending regular classes in the humanities and commerce stream,” he said.
In the government first grade colleges, attendance touched around 50%. R Mugeshappa, joint director, Department of Collegiate Education (DCE) said, the offline classes are picking up in all the government first grade colleges and now nearly half of the students are attending the classes physically.
Local administration
bodies given responsibility
The state government directed all the local administration bodies like grama panchayats, urban local bodies, and Zilla Panchayats to immediately start sanitising the premises of the government higher primary, secondary and PU colleges in their limits.
Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) are responsible for the implementation of all the SoPs at reopening schools, PU colleges and Vidyagama for students between Class 6-9.
According to a circular issued by the rural development and panchayat raj department, classes for students studying between Class 10-12 will start from January 1, while students in Class 6 -10 will turn up to the school campus for Vidyagama.
