RANCHI: The state government on Tuesday cancelled the winter vacation at schools to give more time to Class X and XII students to attend offline classes and prepare for the board examinations.
According to the previous schedule, the schools were to remain closed from December 25 to January 1, but will now remain shut only on Christmas on December 25. The state government had allowed schools to reopen after more than nine months for boards students on December 21.
In a letter issued addressed to the district education officers on Tuesday, director of secondary education Jata Shankar Choudhary said the vacation declared during the winter will be annulled that in view of the board examinations and the order should be implemented strictly in all schools. Tthe education department is also reviewing the operation of the schools including the attendance on a daily basis. The meetings of the schools management committees are likely to take place in this regard.
Meanwhile, attendance in government schools continued to be poor on Tuesday despite an increase in turnout from Day 1. Principals of various schools said several students who came without consent were turned back.
