Tata Consultancy Services has won the award for the Best Patents Portfolio in the Large Enterprises (Information and Communications Technology and Services) category at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Industrial Intellectual Property (IP) Awards 2020. This is the fourth consecutive year that TCS has won this award.
The CII Industrial Intellectual Property Awards recognize organizations that foster a culture of IP and its commercialization, bring the achievements of enterprises into the public domain, help set up linkages with academic and research institutions in India and abroad, inform the Government about IP-driven enterprises to engage with in policy making exercises.
The company said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday that jury for these awards was chaired by eminent scientist, Dr Raghunath Anand Mashelkar, and consisted of leading academicians, consultants and experts with established credentials in the field of IPR from India.
TCS has built a culture of innovation and has made sustained investments in picking up promising new ideas from across the organization and developing them into prototypes, resulting in an industry-leading portfolio of intellectual property and a differentiated positioning as the preferred transformation partner to leading enterprises across the world.
Additionally, it has put in place robust processes and supporting structures to manage and scale up the development of intellectual property to harness the power of digital technologies and build innovative solutions that provide competitive differentiation and strategic value to its customers.
TCS has filed 5,500 patent applications and has been granted 1,593 patents, as of September 30, 2020.

At around 2.03 pm, each company stock was trading at Rs2,910.25 up by Rs39.45 or 1.37% on the BSE.
