Bengaluru: Chief minister BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday said the government has no plans to impose night curfew amid growing concerns over the spread of the new Covid-19 strain found in the UK.
“I am aware that a person who returned from the UK to Karnataka is positive. We must follow all Covid protocols and guidelines. People who are arriving from the UK are made to undergo the RT-PCR test at the airports. But there is no need for a night curfew,” Yediyurappa said, when asked if Karnataka was planning to impose night curfew as the Maharashtra government has done.
Meanwhile, the technical advisory committee that has been advising the state government on matters related to the Covid pandemic is expected to give a new set of suggestions to the health department to ensure the Covid-19 strain from the UK doesn’t spread in the state.
The state has also taken up the task of contacting 300-odd passengers who flew from the UK to Karnataka in two flights on December 20. The government will make all of them take the RT-PCR test, a health department official said.
