There is a literal political turmoil in Odisha over the missing of children in the state. Shocking that in 24 hours 13 children go missing in this land of the Lord Jagannath where fear of God even seems to have pushed to the backyards of conscience.

The recent incident of a 5-year-old girl, Pari`s kidnapping and then her brutal murder sent shock waves all over. The issue became a troublesome thing when the opposition raised banners over the possible involvement of a minister, Arun Sahoo, allegedly protecting the main culprit who is reportedly involved in an organ racket. So the BJP and Congress have been demanding the sacking of the minister.

Official statistics reveal a stunning fact that Odisha has topped the list in crime against children and unfortunately, every 24 hours more than 13 children go missing. Out of which 11 are stated to be girls.

In the majority of the cases, the children who fall victim to kidnappers are usually below 10 years.

It can happen anywhere next door. The child, Pari, died a gruesome death but the incident has shaken the seat of human conscience which has relegated itself to a shocking low.

The issue lingers and lets hope the investigation brings out the culprit to public domain. No fear of law nor of moral a combo that makes such criminals go scot-free.

Probe At Snail Pace

Before the fire over Pari doused, few more incidents of a child missing and killing has left a shocking trail of fear and doubt everywhere. But the law and order apparatus has yet to match up to the pace at which the perpetrators work.

There were a lot of hue and cry over the tragic incident in Nayagarh district. Even it was made more spicy through the inclusion of politics. And this is a malaise almost everywhere in the country.

The blame games get orchestrated so high that, the tale of the victim or his or her bereaved parents are usually lost in the obfuscation.

Helpless  Law & Order

Not to be economical with the truth, there is a lapse somewhere in the law and order machinery plus a discernible failure in our social science. But in that, the political executives cannot absolve of their respective roles.

Reasons behind the missing of the children are attributed to several ills like organ-racket or child trafficking or for the bigotry such as sacrifice etc.....

It is since decades or more, people in Odisha or anywhere have been waiting to see a fitting mechanism of law that can bridge the gap between crime and convictions. But it seems miles before we reach that.

The statistics on the missing angels

of the state are shocking but let`s not be just stoical to the enormity of the crimes or just reactive to the incidents. Institution of probes are not that can stop the dirty histories being written time and again. It must frighten the conscience that makes us feel sane which includes all, people, politicians, and the police as well.
